Samsung Galaxy Marshmallow Update Info (2017)



As we push into 2017 some Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet owners are still waiting for their Android Marshmallow update. Others, are hoping for bug fix updates that solve theirAndroid Marshmallow problems.
Samsung’s Android Nougat update is rolling out but the company continues to fire off a barrage of Galaxy Android Marshmallow updates for devices in regions around the world.
Tons of Galaxy smartphone and tablet owners are now running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow but some people are still waiting for their update to arrive.
If you’re lucky, you might be getting your taste of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow soon. And if you’re real lucky, you might get a bug fix update for your Android Marshmallow problems.


Today we want to take a look at everything we know about the Samsung Android Marshmallow roll out as we push into the new year.
You can expect the Marshmallow roll out to continue even as Samsung rolls out Nougat to Galaxy smartphones and tablets

Samsung Galaxy S6 Marshmallow Update

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is rolling out for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus models all over the world.
Marshmallow updates have also rolled out in Indiathe United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, Iraq  the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Nepal, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, and a whole lot more more.

Sprint rolled out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge several months ago. The carrier’s also now rolling out an update for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
The Sprint bound Galaxy S6 Marshmallow updates are huge, over 1GB in size, and it delivers a long list of enhancements, features, and bug fixes.






Sprint’s since been joined by Verizon and T-Mobile.
Verizon rolled out its Galaxy S6Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates several months ago and it’s now pushing out new versions of the Marshmallow update that deliver bug fixes and other changes. From the change log:
  • Fewer dropped Wi-Fi voice calls
  • Video calls using a cellular network will start with a pop-up reminder that you’ll be using data
  • Ensures you can only make HD Voice Calls when connected to the 4G LTE network
  • Improvements to HD Voice Call volume
  • You can now register for Voice over Wi-Fi calling when roaming
Verizon’s rolled out a bug fix update for its Galaxy S6 Plus model as well.
T-Mobile’s also released its Samsung Galaxy S6Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and Galaxy S6 EdgeAndroid 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates. These updates will roll out Over-the-Air to users for several days and bring enhancements and fixes to the former flagships.
U.S. Cellular’s website shows Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates for the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Each listing comes with a link to download via Samsung Kies.
AT&T’s updated its software support page with details about its Galaxy S6 Marshmallow upgrade. The change log includes:
  • Android OS 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Adds Video Calling
  • Removes Keeper, AT&T Live, FB Messenger
  • Adds Amazon to full preload
  • Moves AT&T Mail and YP Mobile to a Virtual Preload
The AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is available (with new enhancements) as is the AT&T Galaxy S6 Active Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The Galaxy S6 Active Marshmallow update started pushing out in July of last year.

Telus and Bell users in Canada have also received Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Marshmallow roll out. The update is massive, 1.2GB in size, and it brings Android 6.0.1 and a number of enhancements to the larger Edge model.
Fellow Canadian carriers VideoTron and Eastlink are rolling out Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates.

Telus was one of the first North American carriers to confirm specific dates for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and it’s rolling out the Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to users.
In Australia, Vodafone rolled out its Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Marshmallow update last year. The company also rolled out Marshmallow updates to its versions of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
Fellow Australian carrier Telstra pushed out Galaxy S6 Plus, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Marshmallow updates in 2016.
Australian carrier Optus also deployed its Android Marshmallow updates to the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Elsewhere in North America, Canadian carrier Rogers deployed Marshmallow to its Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Marshmallow updates arrived after a long delay.

Marshmallow Features

Thanks to the roll outs and the Galaxy S6 Marshmallow roll out, we know what the Marshmallow update brings to the flagship devices.
As expected, Marshmallow brings changes to the update’s interface. The update replaces blue with white and it changes the look of several app icons.

The update also features the popular Google Now on Tap feature that allows you to quickly bring up information on whatever you’re looking at simply by holding down the home button. It’s one of our favorite Marshmallow features. The video above outlines the key features.
Samsung is rolling out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the most up-to-date version of Marshmallow, and the final version from Google.
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update brings a number of key changes to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge including:
  • Additional quick settings toggles for Private Mode in the status bar.
  • New emoji characters (Android 6.0.1 brought more than 200 to Nexus users).
  • Improved visibility of notification panel icons.
  • If a fingerprint isn’t recognized, users will only get vibration feedback.
  • A new ‘Install overnight’ option that will install an update at night between 2 to 5 AM.
